FCSSC Director General Wu Zhong delivered a speech at the 2021 International Forum for China Impact Investing

On July 16, 2021, the “International Forum for China Impact Investing - New Development with Sustainability” took place in Shanghai, with Wu Zhong, Director General of the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC), attending and delivering a speech. Organized by the Chinese Academy of Financial Inclusion (CAFI) in collaboration with Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) and 1 Reseach, the forum aims to promote the close integration of impact investing with the “14th Five-Year” Plan and the “Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035”, to boost the construction of an ecological system of impact investing with Chinese characteristics, and to further guide capital to take into account both social performance and financial performance. 


Director General Wu Zhong attended the forum and gave a keynote speech in the panel discussion themed “Practice and Vision of Impact Investing”. He addressed several key issues in the practice of impact investing in China and suggested that China should set up an impact investing promotion agency to focus on supporting and nurturing impact investing VCs, etc. 


During the forum, Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, delivered an opening speech on behalf of Wu Qing, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Committee and vice mayor of Shanghai. Zhou Xiaochuan, President of China Society for Finance and Banking and former Governor of the People’s Bank of China, Tu Guangshao, Executive Director of the SAIF, Sun Xiaoxi, former Vice Chairman of the National Council for Social Security Fund, and Zhou Yanli, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC), also attended the forum and delivered speeches. In addition, the forum also welcomed speeches from nearly 40 key industry experts, scholars and representatives of business organizations.
