On December 10, 2018, the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) held a working conference to discuss the outcomes on the second South-South Cooperation Annual Report at the South-South Cooperation in the Digital World Hong Kong Summit.

This report examines how to make full use of the changes brought about by digital technologies to realize more prosperous and inclusive development towards the attainment of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Mr.Wu Zhong, Vice Chairman and Director-General of the FCSSC moderated the meeting, while Mr. Hany Besada, Senior Research Coordination Officer of the UNOSSC, explained the key points of the report. Ms. Xiaoying Zhang, Postdoctoral Fellow of Fudan University and Ms. Maria F. Latorre, Project Manager of the FCSSC received to Mr. Wang Xiaolin, Deputy Dean of the Sixth Industrial Research Institute of Fudan University, and researchers who participated in the Annual Report, along with professionals and scholars to discuss and have feedback about the accomplished research.

The report analyzes digital opportunities and challenges in South-South cooperation, then makes judgments on development prospects and trends of digital industries in developing countries, and finally puts forward proposals for digital industrial cooperation in South-South Cooperation. The report also focuses on the impact of digital technology in promoting cross-border trade and trade facilitation, the application of smart contracts in cross-border trade and supervision issues. It analyzes the potential of digital finance to support the development of inclusive finance and proposes developing digital financial infrastructure, human capital investment and capacity building in developing countries.

The second South-South Cooperation Annual Report will be launch at the BAPA+40 United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation, which will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 20-22 March 2019.
