On May 20, 2024, Joint CAREC-China Digital Economy Workshop & 2nd ASEAN-China Digital Economy Workshop organized by the Centre for International Studies on Development and Governance, Zhejiang & Zhejiang University was successfully opened at the Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University. Director-General Wu Zhong was invited to give lecture in the workshop.
In the workshop, Dr. Wu introduced the development opportunities that the digital economy can bring to developing countries in the field of inclusive finance to the participants from ASEAN countries. He also emphasized the important role that digital economy plays in poverty reduction and promoting green and sustainable development. Meanwhile, he hoped to take this opportunity to build a new bridge for cooperation between China and ASEAN, Central Asia and the United Arab Emirates.
This workshop aimed to continuously promote the digital economy exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN, Central Asian countries, and lay a solid foundation for the joint construction of "Digital Silk Road". A total of 36 participants from 16 countries was admitted to the workshop. 30 of them are government officials, 17 at the bureau level and 13 at the department level. Other 4 are senior executives of the enterprises, while left 2 are scholars from universities.
