On June 13, the UNIDO Day 2024 with the theme of "Green STI Stirs up New Quality Productive Forces" was successfully held at the 10th China (Shanghai) International Technology Import and Export Fair (CSIFT). Finance Center for South-South Cooperation organized the event jointly with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (WUSME). Dr. Wu Zhong, Director General of Finance Center for South-South Cooperation attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks.
In the opening remarks, Dr. Wu pointed out that green technological innovation is playing an increasingly important role in promoting the development of circular economy and cultivating green industries. The proposal of new productive forces is highly consistent with the "sustainable development" concept in the global. Finance Center for South-South Cooperation has been adhering to the concept of sustainable development, through various efforts including knowledge sharing, "impact investment" research and production capacity promotion to build a broad platform for win-win cooperation and green development. We are willing to work with all parties to promote green technological innovation and help achieve high-quality development.
On Green Silk Road Global Matchmaking held in the afternoon, Deputy Director General Zhou Meixiang of FCSSC gave a keynote speech with the theme of Embracing New Standards and Technologies, ESG Comes into New Era. She addressed that ESG has reached a new stage of development both globally and domestically, while the development of digital technology also further empowering ESG. Through multi-level cooperation among government, financial institutions and enterprises, ESG will truly become an important force to stimulate green transformation of global industrial enterprises, promote high-quality economic and social development and achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the future.
This year UNIDO Day has attracted more than 300 guests from 10+ countries and regions, including Chen Deming, former Minister of Commerce of China, Hu Hao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Barbara Tetrenzi, President of World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises, Huang Feng, President of Shanghai Association of Foreign Investment, Ma Jun, Director of Green Finance Committee of China Finance Society, Zhao Xiaolei, Director of UNIDO Shanghai ITPO, etc. During all-day events, they carried on in-depth discussion and sharing about how to stimulate and promote the development of new quality productive forces through continuous green technology innovation, to ultimately achieve long-term social and economic progress, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
In addition, enterprise representatives of China-Indonesia Dual Park-Batang Wansinda Industrial Park and Freshippo China, as well as the business guests and representatives from Indonesia, Argentine and Africa got together, exchanged industrial information and explored new patterns for international cooperation.
