The FCSSC, WWF and China-Africa Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance co-organized ‘2023 China-Africa Sustainable Investment Summit' in Kenya

From November 8 to 10, 2023, the FCSSC, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and China-Africa Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance co-organized the ‘2023 China-Africa Sustainable Investment Summit' in Nairobi, Kenya. This summit focused on sustainable investments in Africa, impact investing, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance, and explored potential opportunities for corporate investments in Africa, especially in the fields of green technology, energy and digital technology. 


The summit was chaired by Ms. Zhang Xiaowen, the Executive Director of FCSSC, with a keynote speech delivered by Director-General Wu Zhong. Dr. Wu Zhong emphasized that investments in developing countries are increasingly focusing on corporate social responsibility and local sustainable development, with particular attention to social, environmental, and governance aspects, especially in the fields of renewable energy and green technology. Impact investing is an excellent approach in this regard. Dr. Wu Zhong specifically introduced the FCSSC’s recent research report on sustainable and impact investments in agriculture, sharing insights on how digitalization can aid sustainable development in agriculture and rural areas. 


Other guests who attended the summit included Zhang Yijun, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Diao Chunhe, Executive Chairman of the China-Africa Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance; Mr.Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien,International Sustainability Standards Board member (ISSB), and representatives from Okapi of Kenya, China Road and Bridge Corporation and ZTE Corporation.
