FCSSC and UNIDO co-organized the Sixth “Bridge for Cities”

On October 31, 2021, the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), successfully held the Sixth “Bridge for Cities” event. Dr. Wu Zhong, Director General of FCSSC, delivered a speech at the Closing Ceremony. This year’s event was themed “Bridges for Cities 2021 - Driving Innovation for Urban Resilience and Recovery from COVID-19”, which aimed to provide a platform for global cities to exchange knowledge and work towards urban inclusion, resilience, gender equality and green economic recovery. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event was held online.


More than 30 guests, including Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Li Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and Mr. Wang Wentao, China’s Minister of Commerce, delivered exciting speeches at the event, and 18 mayors and deputy mayors from cities around the world also attended the event.


In addition, the “Bridge for Cities Knowledge Platform” was officially launched at this event, which will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and the connection of resources and technologies related to sustainable urban development through an online digital approach.
