FCSSC and UNOSSC officially launched “South-South Galaxy” platform on UN Day for South-South Cooperation, 12 September

In the United Nations South-South Cooperation Day on September 12, 2019, The Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) officially launched a prototype of a global knowledge-sharing and partnership brokering platform entitled “South-South Galaxy.” UN Secretary-General Guterres attended and delivered a speech on the opening ceremony. During the “South-South Galaxy” official launch event in the afternoon, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Food Programme, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Health Organization, UN-Women, International Fund for Agricultural Development, World Intellectual Property Organization, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and other agencies discussed the specific content and implementation details of South-South cooperation.

FCSSC and UNOSSC, along with development partners have developed “South-South Galaxy” platform. Powered by artificial intelligence, this platform aims to respond systematically and effectively in supporting developing countries’ demand to connect, learn and collaborate with potential partners. It serves as a consolidated South-South solutions platform for Southern partners in the UN system and acts as a one-stop-shop for all partners to use. The platform complements, rather than substitutes or duplicates existing national or regional institutional arrangements.
